The official who spoke to Sudans Post on condition of anonymity said that Jacob – who is also one of the founders of the youth-dominated political party – was called to Rainbow Hotel in Juba by suspected elements of the National Security Service and got kidnapped.
“What I have been told by his family is that the secretary-general was called into a meeting by suspected members of NSS and after he arrived there, he was pushed into a car and one of the people who was with him was not arrested,” the party source said.
He said that they don’t know why he was taken into custody and that the National Security Service have refused to give access to the family and do not seem to admit that they are detaining the senior opposition politician.
“The problem we don’t know where he is being detained. The National Security Service appears to be dismissing that they are them who arrested or kidnapped him, but what is happening is that we have evidence that they did it,” he added.
Rainbow Hotel is located in the center of the country’s capital Juba, and it is used by National Security Service and other organized forces as a set up place for those they believe are against the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Earlier this year, former Western Equatoria State minister of information Eng. Charles Kisanga was kidnapped from the hotel by suspected security operatives at the same hotel. Kisanga said he was called and then pushed into a car before being driven away.
