JUBA – A group of armed criminals in Western Equatoria state have attacked at least two army barracks in Mundri East County killing two (2) soldiers and wounding about nine (9) people, according to the authorities there.

According to Mundri East County Commissioner of Western Equatoria Margret Fozia, the attack took place one Sunday and Monday when a group of army criminals attacked Lanyi and Jambo barracks, respectively, killing two SSPDF soldiers.

“The day before yesterday and yesterday some people, I don’t know who they are, attacked our people and wounded soldiers and also civilians. We lost two soldiers of SSPDF, also four soldiers and one small girl were injured,” Fozia is quoted by Eye Radio as saying.

“This morning also there was an attack on the police and the army barracks by the same group. They attack Jambo at around 5 am there and then at 7 they attack Lanyi,” the senior local government official added.

She further said several travelers are also said to be missing following the attacks and that no arrest has been made by the authorities there as there is no group that has since declared responsibility for the criminality.
