AWEIL WEST – Stray dogs wondering without owners will be killed, Aweil West County authorities warned on Saturday citing rising cases of dog bites in the area.
A total of 16 people have so far been bitten by rabid dogs, police records show.
The police director in Nyamlel, Phillip Agany urged the youth to kill all stray dogs.
“Dogs without rightful owners will be eliminated on Saturday. So I’m appealing to people of the county to be home on Saturday. This decision was reached after 16 people were bitten by dogs,” he said.
Saturday’ operation, Agany further stressed, will last the whole day.
Deng Dut, a youth, said some dog owners ignored advice to vaccinate their pets.
He urged Nyamlel residents to cooperate with authorities during the operation.
