A senior government official close to the governor said on condition of anonymity that among those who were killed during the fighting is Kerbino Kuol Agok, former commissioner of Apuk North County of Warrap state, who was on a cattle recovery mission.
“There has been fighting since yesterday and as of now, around 65 people including the former commissioner of Apuk North County Hon. Kerbino Kuol Agok was among those 65 innocent people killed this morning,” the official said.
He said the Hon. Kerbino was recalled to Kuajok by Governor Aleu Anyieny last week and was given the mission to go to recover the cattle raided and was on a cattle-rescue mission when he was shot dead by the cattle raiders.
“There was a mission that he was deployed to by the governor. He was tasked with recovering the cattle and those who were with him are not well-trained, compared with the heavily armed youth,” the official said.
