This morning, a deadly road ambush along the Juba-Nimule highway resulted in the killing of at least seven people with others missing.
In a statement, Yakani, the Executive Director of CEPO, condemned the attack and said the increase in deadly incidents in the world’s youngest country is demonstration that the security situation is deteriorating and everyone is taking law into his/her own hand.
“CEPO condemned the deadly incident along Juba-Nimule. The increase in deadly incidences across the country is demonstrating that chances of the country falling into organized community defense forces that will replace the role of the state or government security and defense forces in providing individual and community safety and security,” he said in the statement sent to Sudans Post.
“CEPO call upon the political leaders of the country to urgently walk away from focusing too much on their interest of power control to the focus of meeting the best interest of the citizens,” he added.
