JUBA – South Sudan’s exiled activist and economist Dr. Peter Biar Ajak has urged the government to renamed Kololo Road in Juba in honor of the SPLM/SPLA formation on 16 May 1983 after Ugandan President’s son and commander of land forces made joke of South Sudan.
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba Rubereza had claimed that South Sudan, which obtained independence from Sudan in July 2011, is an empire belonging to Uganda that was created by his father, Yoweri Museveni, and warned those working against Kiir.
“If you touch my commander in Juba, H.E Salva Kiir, you’ll be looking for trouble with Muhoozi Kainerugaba Rubereza! I thank my father fir creating our mighty empire,” he wrote in a Twitter yesterday.
In a statement following the comments of Gen. Muhoozi, Ajak who is currently based in the United States described the Ugandan general’s behaviors as unbecoming and called on the government in Juba to rename the Kololo Road in the capital.
“If there are still patriots left in South Sudan and not just ‘pay-to-riots’, as Jon Pen would put it, then it’s about time we change the name of Kololo Road to the May 16th Road or something else,” he said.
“Otherwise, how can a country smaller than Maiwut County claim to be our overlords? Totally unbecoming,” he questioned.
