Death toll in Sudanese military crackdown on protesters reaches 13

JUBA – Two more people succumbed to their wounds increasing the death toll of 13 November to seven victims, according to an independent medical group on Sunday.

Mujahid Mohamed Farah 15 years old, and Remaz Hatim al-Atta, a 13 years old girl died in hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds by the security forces on November 13th, 2021, said the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors (CCSD).

“Remaz was standing at her house door when she was shot,” added the pro-democracy group.

In a separate statement, the CCSD published a list including the full names of the seven victims and where their death was recorded.

According to the medical group, about 215 people were injured during the 12th November protests in the Sudanese capital:112 people sustained live ammunition wounds, 3 rubber bullet injuries, 17  wounded by tear gas canisters,13 suffocated by tear gas, 8 baton injuries, 62 superficial wounds.

There are “11 unstable cases,” underscored the group in one of its reports on Sunday.

They pledged to release more reports about the situation in the other states when they collect the data, pointing to the internet cuts.

The military authorities closed the bridges and main streets in Khartoum to prevent the anti-coup demonstrators from forming one procession.

Also, in a bid to put off the protests, the security forces resorted to the excessive use of violence against the protesters since the beginning.

A big number of activists was arrested before and after the protests.
