JUBA — South Sudan’s newly-appointed minister of finance and planning Dier Tong Ngor was on Friday afternoon sworn into office, just a day after a presidential decree was readout on the state-own SSBC for his appointment.

Dier was appointed yesterday after Kiir sacked Agak Achuil as finance minister. The minister was sacked along the governor of central bank Moses Makur Deng.

In a statement this afternoon, the presidency said Ngor was sworn in with attendance from president Kiir and senior members of his administration.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday presided over the swearing in ceremony of Hon. Dier Tong Ngor as the Minister of Finance and Planning,” the presidency said.

“The oath-taking was administered in the Office of the President by Justice Chan Reech Madut , the Chief Justice,” the statement added.
