Kuel who was arrested and detained by National Security Service (NSS) in August 2021 for signing a document for formation of the People’s Coalition for Civil Action (PCCA) was released by a court in the country’s capital Juba on Friday afternoon.
In a statement, Biar welcomed Kuel’s release and congratulated him for coming back to freedom and said nothing can replace or can compensate for the time the activist has wasted while he was in jail for more than one year.
“Congratulations Governor Kuel Aguer Kuel upon your release! Nothing will ever replace the time you lost. Nothing will ever console the pain you endured. Nothing will ever remove the humiliations you suffered,” he said.
Biar further wished Kuel good of luck and urged him not to forget the people and further called for the release of controversial cleric Abraham Chol who was also detained by National Security Service for prophesizing that South Sudan will have new president other than Kiir by July 9th 2021.
“May God reward you in his abundant wisdom. Do not forget your people! Now, free Rev. Abraham Chol,” he said.
