Ex-Unity state deputy governor’s body flown to Pariang from Juba

The body of former deputy governor of South Sudan's Unity State General Stephen Mabek Lang has arrived in his home town Pariang, one week after passing away due to unknown illness in the capital Juba, information secretary of the Ruweng Administrative Area Miakol Makuac told Sudans Post on Saturday.

JUBA – The body of former deputy governor of South Sudan’s Unity State General Stephen Mabek Lang has arrived in his home town Pariang, one week after passing away due to unknown illness in the capital Juba, information secretary of the Ruweng Administrative Area Miakol Makuac told Sudans Post on Saturday.

“Today, the body of the former deputy governor of Ruweng Administrative Area General Stephen Mabek Lang has been flown home to Pariang County. He was received upon arrival from Yida Airstrip by hundreds of mourners inside Pariang town,” Miakol told Sudans Post on phone from Pariang town.

General Mabek, a veteran politician who also served in different capacities in Unity state and as deputy governor of the defunct Ruweng state died in Juba on June 13, 2021 in Juba.

He was 51.

“A prayer is being made at the main Catholic Church and after that he will be put to rest in the evening,” the senior state government official added. “We are here with senior government officials from the Ruweng Administrative Area and also from the national government in Juba.”
