JUBA – South Sudan main armed opposition politician and de facto SPLM-IO leader Duer Tut Duer has urged his supporters not to take side in the conflict between SPLM-IO under First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and leader of the breakaway SPLM-IO Kitgwang faction Gen. Gatwech Dual.

In a statement extended to Sudans Post, Duer Tut who served at some points as the opposition governor of the defunct Sobat State, said both Gatwech and Machar have surrendered to the government of President Salva Kiir and members of the SPLM-IO should not continue to die as the result of their conflict over positions.

“Let me remind you that, from the inception of the SPLM/A-IO until the 2nd of August 2021, Simon Gatwech Dual was the Chief of Staff of the SPLA – 10 and Riek Machar was the Commander-In-Chief of the SPLA-IO,” Duer said in the statement dated February 7, 2022.

“On the 3rd of August 2021, Simon Gatwech Dual declared the removal of Riek Machar as a reaction to the surrendering of Riek to Regime of Salva. On the 6th of January 2022, Simon Gatwech Dual Signed an Agreement of submission to the Authority of Salva Kiir exactly like Riek Machar,” he added.

He said “Since the two have surrendered to the same Regime of Salva Kiir, you don’t need to continue killing yourselves.”

He urged his supporters “not to take side in Machar – Dual conflict and for reasons known to us, you should continue to follow the instruction given in 2021.”

Duer Tut Duer is seem to be jealous about two leaders in the SPLA I0 and SPLM IO. To make peace with others people then, you must be involved otherwise, it will not work. South Sudanese people are tired about wars and they are tired about bad guys who are fighting for their own interests.
The 2018 revitalize peace agreement is not perfect but it is better than wars put that in your mind. What are you talking about when you are in the form of refugee in Sudan? Tut Duer you seem to be desperately about leadership which you haven’t got from Simon Gatwech Dual and Machar’s camp. You will have no room if you don’t adjust your behavior.
