JUBA — Two South Sudan main armed opposition commanders allied to First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny have reportedly been wounded during yesterday’s fighting at Magenis, Brigadier-General William Gatjiath Deng, the spokesman of the SPLM-IO faction under Gen. Gatwech Dual said.

This comes four days after General Gatwech Dial announced in a statement signed by himself that he has removed De. Riek Machar from the leadership of the SPLM-IO and has become the new leader of the main armed opposition group that is implementing a 2018 peace agreement with the government of President Salva Kiir.

Yesterday’s fighting resulted in the killing of 28 soldiers, according to opposition spokesmen from both side, with at least 32 soldiers being taken as captive by General Simon Gatwech Dual’s forces.

Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, General William Gatjiath Deng said Major-General Malual Biel, one of the commanding officers of the SPLA-IO’s division one, was wounded also with Colonel Duany Latjor.

“We have received information from the attacking forces and the information is that General Malual Biel has been wounded. Also Colonel Duang Latjor is said to be wounded and is missing, he might be among those who perished but we don’t have any information about that,” Gatjiath said from Magenis.
