JUBA – The Provisional Military and Political Council (PMPC), led by Maj. Gen. James Ochan Puot, has rejected the decision of President Salva Kiir Mayardit to return the country to ten states.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit in a surprise move on Saturday decided to revoke South Sudan’s controversial 32 state and reestablished the previous ten states.

“Provisional Military and Political Council (PMPC) headed by Maj-General James Ochan Puot in it’s headquarters Maiwut town is sending it’s disappointment on the decision made by President Salva Kiir to return this country to the 10 states,” a statement seen by Sudans Post partly reads.

“This violates the demand of our people and amount to unconstitutionality,” the statement added.

“This decision is not a good step and will not end the long suffering of the people of South Sudan.”
