JUBA – The head of South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU) Gola Boyoi Gola announced end of his four-year tenure on Monday, with a statement expressing gratitude and reflecting on his accomplishments.

“Four years ago today, I was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the SSNYU,” Gola said in a statement extended to Sudans Post today.

“I am deeply grateful to the delegates who chose me and to all those who contributed to my election,” he added.

Gola acknowledged the challenges faced during his tenure, citing financial constraints and disagreements.

“While I may not have fulfilled all expectations,” he stated, “I am confident that we have made progress despite these difficulties.”

He urged unity among the youth, calling on individuals with differing views to set aside their differences for the greater good.

“This country belongs to all of us,” Gola declared. “We must work together to unite the youth as we move forward.”

Gola also addressed the formation of an inclusive committee, announced in a recent press conference.

He emphasized that this committee’s approval rests with the Minister of Youth and Sports, as it deviates from the organization’s General Regulations.

“This decision was made,” he explained, “in the spirit of unity and togetherness among the youth.”

Gola concluded his statement by expressing his commitment to the future.

“This is just the beginning of our journey,” he affirmed. “I am grateful for your continued support, and I look forward to working with you all in the years to come.”

Gola was elected – by a landslide – as chair of the youth union in December 2019. His term officially ended on Monday, paving the way for the election of a new SSNYU chairperson.
