JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has dispatched a high-level delegation to the Turkish capital Ankara where they are expected to meet Turkish President Recep Tayeb Ordogan and senior Turkish officials, a presidency source has just told Sudans Post.

According to the official who requested not to be named, the team that include foreign ministry officials and intelligence community leaders, will be led by the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs Tutkew Gatluak Manimeh who is currently at Khartoum Airport waiting to takeoff.

“This is to inform you that H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan has send a team to Turkey to meet the authorities there including the President of Turkey H.E Recep Tayeb Ordogan and he will be accompanied by senior officials from the foreign ministry and the NSS,” the official said.

He said main points of discussion will be on how Turkey can provided support in the graduation of the unified forces including the arming of those forces, adding that other things in the agenda include discussions on bilateral ties between the two countries.

“What they will discuss will be the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement and the security arrangements in particular which has been affected by the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations Security Council in 2018 and which has continued to affect the implementation process of the peace agreement,” he said.

“Other things that will be discussed by the delegation with the Turkish officials will be how to support the government of South Sudan as you may have heard that Turkish is one of the supporting partners of our country since we gained our independent from Sudan,” the official added.

Tutkew has been in the Sudanese capital Khartoum where he has been meeting Sudanese government and representatives of the opposition groups in Eastern Sudan who have for several times cut the South Sudan oil flow to Port Sudan where it is then transported to the international market.
