The ambulance, official said, will ease access to Malualbaai primary healthcare center.
The center, currently, serves communities in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Warrap states.
Johnson Madhieu Amiath, a youth leader, said the need for an ambulance was brought to the attention of the president by Abraham Angac Akot, a former presidential guard.
Akot also served as the commissioner of Malualbaai when the 32 defunct states existed.
President Kiir reportedly tasked Benjamin Bol Mel, one of his advisors, to buy the vehicle.
Upon its purchase, however, the ambulance was handed over to Akot who eventually requested the former Aweil East county commissioner, Theip Tong to deliver the vehicle.
The county health director, Angony Ateny said the ambulance will handle emergencies.
He, however, said the center lacks a gynecologist with referrals directed to Aweil hospital.
