JUBA, JANUARY 22ND 2023 (SUDANS POST) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Saturday morning gave green light for construction of the Bor-Malakal highway after inaugurating the completed Juba-Bor highway.

If completed, the new highway will pass through Ayod, Malakal and Renk in northern Upper Nile state, according to the office of the president.

Kiir while speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony for construction of what would be one of the most important, yet the longest highway in the country, called on the people of Jonglei State to condemn violence and promote peace.

“I call on you, the people of Jonglei State to shun communal violence and embrace peace to foster development and stability in the State hence boosting connectivity, trade, and security in the region,” the president said.

The road is being constructed by the ARC and in his speech, the country’s vice-president for infrastructure Taban Deng Gai thanked the local construction company of “ARC for creating jobs for citizens.”

This is a welcomed development but more is to be done else where in the whole.

I wanted to give my thanks and gratitude to His excellency our president Salva Kirr Mayardit. Thank you so much for the struggle to connect all the towns and maintaining “taking town to the people” portfolio. I am just a concern citizen who cries out loud on our Juba-Torit-Kapoeta-Nadapal Highyway which has stopped some few months ago. What happened to the constraction of Juba-Nadapal road? we really need to finish the road first before connecting to other states. I am so much happy that our Bor-Juba Highway is now well tarmac that I can go for weekend to greet friends and come back to hustle in the Capital. We really need the Juba-Nadapal Highway to be completed.

    Best,
    OYANI
