JUBA – President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday afternoon travelled to the United Arab Emirati city of Dubai to attend the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The conference will be held from November 30 to December 12, 2023.
According to deputy foreign minister Ramadan Mohamed Abdalla, Kiir’s schedule includes engagements on the sidelines, aiming to foster discussions on regional peace and security, with particular emphasis on addressing the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
The COP28 conference stands poised as a watershed moment, drawing the attention of global leaders who converge to evaluate the progress made under the Paris Agreement.
It serves as a platform to facilitate discussions aimed at harmonizing climate action worldwide while effectively addressing existing gaps in this critical initiative.
