This comes a week after the controversial senior government official beaten his wife popularly known as Aluel Messi before stabbing him the leg.
Social media users were outraged by the actions of Mayen and many including the South Sudan Women’s Forum have urged the government to take necessary measures against Mayen who has been in the public eye for similar activities.
In a brief social media statement, activist Wani Michael of the Okay Africa said the minister need to be dismissed because he has misbehave and has shown action of impunity which does not exist in the revitalized peace agreement.
“Hon. Peter Mayen deserves to be dismissed from his Ministerial position and go to jail, how do you beat and stab your wife. This government joke too much by allowing its own leaders to misbehave with impunity. We’ve a GBV Court in Juba and he deserves to stand a trial,” Michael said.
“Hon. Peter Mayen should honorably resign from his Ministerial position or President Kiir should act and fire him. RARCISS doesn’t license leaders to act with impunity,” he added.
He must be remove because beating and stabling of a wife by a minister is even embracing south sudan.
