This was revealed in a statement by the spokesman of South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army Brigadier General Chan Mut Turoah following a meeting between lawmakers from Mayom with vice-president for service-delivery Hussein Abdelbaggi.
“On 16th, Aug 2021, the delegation of appointed Bul members of Parliament of both, the council of state and Transitional National Legislative Assembly headed by Hon. Bapiny Manytuil Wejang, the deputy speaker of Council of state paid a courtesy visit to the office of Vice President for Service cluster, H.E Hussein Abdelbagi Ayii Akol,” the statement extended to Sudans Post reads in part.
The statement said the “lawmakers from Bul community reiterated their commitment to work in solidarity with H.E Hussein Abdelbagi Ayii Akol in the process of delivering services to the people at all levels and standards.”
“All the appointed Bul lawmakers in the two houses applauded and commended the steps being taken forward by the President of the Republic H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit in making sure that the R-ARCSS is fully implemented both in letter and spirit. This has been demonstrated by his call for unification of the top army leadership and the recent reconstitution of both the TNLA and Council of State.
“All the appointed lawmakers from Bul Community under the comradeship of Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime, The Presidential Advisor for national security affairs declared their firm support to rally behind H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic for his love for peace to prevail in South Sudan. The MPs under comradeship of Hon. Tut Gatluak and the entire Bul will never let down the President of the Republic, H. E Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit in all efforts needed to stabilize the nation.
“The trust bestowed upon their son Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime by the President of the Republic, H.E Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit by making him as the ambassador of peace is a very fundamental achievement not only to Hon. Tut Gatluak but to the entire members of constituency where he hails from and that is none other than Bul Community.
“The lawmakers are calling for UN and international humanitarian agencies to respond and support the flood-affected victims in Mayom. It is reported that thousands of people have been displaced, crops have been destroyed and the grazing land for cattle, goats and sheep have been destroyed by the flood caused by torrential rainfall in Mayom.
“The MPs have reiterated their commitments to make a fundraising event in Juba to support the flood victims and help in their evacuation to the least affected areas in Mayom. The date, venue and time of the event shall be communicated very soon. Regardless of their initiative to raise funds, they are also calling upon the government, national NGOs and international NGOs to support the flood-affected victims through provisions of Basic services such as blankets, foods, medicines, tents etc.
“The lawmakers are strongly recommending to curve cross border conflict by engaging the local people in the peaceful resolution of community issues through dialogue, tolerance, accommodation and respect for others’ opinions.
“The lawmakers are calling upon all neighboring communities to cease further hostilities and cattle raiding.”
