AWEIL – Authorities in South Sudan’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have unveiled a three-year plan as part of effort to meet the sustainable development goals.
Stakeholders and development partners attended the launch held on Monday.
Speaking exclusively to Sudan’s Post on Wednesday, the state Minister of information, Zechariah Garang Lual said the development plan will help various stakeholders intervene in crisis situations.
Strategic development encompasses lots of priorities which are required, he said.
“We have a lot of priorities and things talked about include, food security, health, education, water and sanitation, roads, public financial management, disaster preparedness, resilience and social protection,” said Lual.
He said they will work with stakeholders to mobilize resources for better living.
The minister reiterated government’s commitment to improve citizens’ welfare.
During the launch, Governor Tong Aken Ngor acknowledged the contribution of development partners like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in improving peoples’ lives.
“Having launched this project, I request UNDP to avail funds to start the new strategic development plan. I, therefore, officially declare the launch of the state development plan”, he announced.
