Opinion | Business is vital for South Sudan’s national development

OPINION – The significance of business in every country on earth is undeniable. It is one of the greatest and important economic activities that billions of people worldwide have massively invested in it. Business is the engine of growth of an economy on this planet and it is the backbone of strong economy in every nation earth wide. Strong and sustainable economies need massive investment in businesses. Moreover, South Sudan need to seriously invest in business activities of all types. South Sudan need huge investment in the business sector if we sincerely desire to build a powerful and sustainable national economy and to solve the ongoing economic torture.

Furthermore, in many economies such as America, Russia, India, Sweden and China; businesses have been given full attention and investment. America and China have greatly invested in many business activities both in their respective countries and globally and that is why they’ve strong economies and sustainable development. Additionally, South Sudan have massive potential in the business sector and its can become a regional and continental trade hub in Africa. South Sudan can become the new Dubai of Africa if we can channel our energies, faculties and resources into business development and create conducive business environment to attract investors.

Moreover, there’re many benefits that can be accomplish from business activities if people work hard in business. Business improves the quality of life in many ways on earth. Firstly, it provides high quality goods and services that humans required for their survival, health, comfortability and enjoyment. Secondly, business offers opportunities for job creation to many people which can help to generate income and improve the quality of life in the world. Thirdly, self-sufficiency; business helps nations and people to achieve self-sufficiency and reduce dependency on foreign aid. It also assists in improving living standard of humans.

Fourthly, business helps to create international relations; its assists to maintain harmonious relations among different nations. There can be mutual understanding and better diplomatic ties among countries. Export and import helps in creating sustainable international relationship among various countries on earth. Fifthly, business helps in the utilization of natural resources; in every nation, there’re various natural resources and business must be directed towards an excellent and efficient utilization of resources. But resources must be utilized without exploitation.

Sixthly, revenue generation; business is a great source of revenue generation. The taxes, royalties, custom duties, fees and many other things assists to generate government revenue in every country. Seventhly, earning of foreign currency; business is a massive source of earning foreign currency. Hard foreign currency can be earning through export of goods and services in the country. Eighthly, creation of utility, business helps in the creation of place and time utility. Its assists to satisfy the needs of people. Ninthly, business help in the provision of investment opportunities; business helps in the creation of new industries and other commercial fields in a country.

Thus, business assists in providing investment opportunities. Lastly but not least, business helps in the development of various industries which assists in the utilization of natural resources in the country. Business helps in the development of an economy of the nation and the economic growth is the most desire factor that can develop the country to a wider sense. So, our citizenry in South Sudan should seriously invest in various businesses across the country. We need to acknowledge that business is the key in the battle and eradication of shameful extreme poverty across South Sudan. Every living citizen should have at least a desire to do business and generate some income either directly or indirectly. We have seen how foreign nationals are doing businesses across the country and we must learn and work hard like them too. And we South Sudan Environmental Advocates (SSEA) strongly need that to happen.

South Sudanese people should take control of their national economy and its must be on their fingers. Start doing business with the little capital you have and hard work and God will increase it with time in South Sudan. Finally, business is vital for economic development in South Sudan. We need to massively invest in businesses in the entire country if we sincerely desire to solve the ongoing economic crisis and achieve economic growth and sustainable development in South Sudan.
