OPINION – Lakes State is boiling and it is time to drastically act as to save lives and property. If we don’t act courageously now, history is going to hold us accountable and this would not augur well with our children and the generations to come! It is high time to act and restore fraternity! It is time to forego ostrich attitudes!
Ostrich is a flightless swift-running African bird with a Long neck, long legs two toes on each foot. It is the largest living bird with male reaching the average height of 8 feet(2.5m).
It is commonly referred to that, “any person who refuses to face reality or accept facts is an ostrich.” In dream, it is said that if you see ostrich in dream, it means that you are afraid to be responsible, and always to be in the shadows, avoiding the important of serious business – this is the prediction for a dream where ostrich buries its head in the sand.
Ostrich in dream symbolizes freedom and independence. Lakes State political leaders should think twice in the raging, rampant anarchy in the homeland.
As the title indicates, as leaders, we must accept to face realities, accept responsibilities with zeal and always be on the alert to prevent catastrophic tendencies. Lakes State is bleeding and it is a shame for the people to die while their sons are in key instrumental, influential and sovereign executive positions namely: Hon. Daniel Awet Akot, prominent revolutionary leader and former Presidential Advisor on Military Affairs, who is a son of Gok, Hon. Paul Mayom Akec, Minister of Interior, Gen. Majak Akec Malok, Inspector General of the National Police Service, all hailing from Rumbek East; Hon. David Deng Athorbei, former financial minister and current community leader of Atuot Community Yirol West and Greater Yirol at large. What is your role given your key positions? To Hon. Deng Athorbei and other leaders of Yirol, could Kuek Community annihilate themselves at our watch? To Hon. Daniel Awet Akot, can Gok finish itself as such under your watch? To Hon. Mayom and Gen. Majak Akec, can Lakes State and Rumbek East County in particular bleed under your watch? What legacy do we (all politicians) want to leave behind if your people finish themselves in the supposedly controllable tribal fights?
The message is that we must devise a pragmatic strategy to bring to an end this persistence menace out of our homeland for the betterment of our communities and restore fraternity at all levels and in all our social spheres.
It is time to act and safe Lakes State from the anarchists tearing it apart. Stop burying our heads in the sand, as it is meaningless but tainting our great prestige in all sociopolitical aspects of this country. Our efforts to devise ways of helping the newly appointed governor could save the conflict-torn state.
Let us act now —– not tomorrow!
God bless Lakes State from the wrath of falling apart!
