JUBA – Disagreement has continued between opposition groups making up South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) in the country’s Greater Equatoria states over distribution of state and local government positions, according to a senior opposition leader.

This comes after President Salva Kiir Mayardit asked opposition groups that are signatories to the revitalized peace agreement to submit names of their nominees for states and local governments positions following last week’s agreement between parties.

Speaking to Sudans Post on Tuesday evening, a SSOA official said disagreement has continued between major parties over the distribution of states government positions.

“SSOA constituency member parties in Greater Equatoria   namely NAS, PDM and SSNMC met today for several times to resolve outstanding issues regarding the distribution of SSOA positions in the state and county level in greater Equatoria,” the opposition official said.

The opposition official who refused not to be named went to explain what had happened.

“The first method to apply was the prominence of the party in each state. Second, the  fairness method and lastly flexibility.

“Eastern Equatoria – PDM, 2- Central – NAS and SSNMC in Western Equatoria. The first sitting of the committee settled the distributions of the positions amongst the parties fairly on some of positions The sticking points are on three contested positions such as Commissioner  of Juba county which is contested by both PDM and NAS, Deputy speaker of state Assembly in central Equatoria state which is also contested by both NAS and SSNMC.

“State Ministry of Local Government which is on high demand by both SSNMC and NAS.

“NAS claimed prominence in Central Equatoria and want to bring its candidate to take the position.

“The Candidate promise the Chairman of NAS and his deputy each thirty plots in Luri Payam closed to president’s resident.

“NAS chairman believes he can struck a better deal when the outstanding issues are forwarded to VP Hussein Abdelbaggi he stupidly forgot that VP will be looking for fairway to keep him out from biasness, hence other regions resolved their issues by themselves amicably.

“The issue of Local Government. NAS is fighting to give this position to female which is good but the challenge is, she is incompetent luck better education (can’t write and read properly) though she was  accommodated as minister during Governor Clement Wani Konga.”
