Over 60 people allegedly abducted by suspected NAS rebels, SPLA-IO forces in Yei

JUBA – At least sixty-three (63) civilians have been abducted by suspected members of the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by General Thomas Cirilo Swaka and forces belonging to the SPLA-IO in Yei River County, authorities there have said.

Commissioner of Yei River County Aggrey Cyrus said, according to the Eye Radio, that the abduction took place at different times in areas of Mapoko, Mugwo and Mukaya.

He said some of the civilians who were abducted late last year and January this year have been told by the armed groups that they must flee to Uganda, otherwise they will be hunted.

“In summary, the record of number of abductees that were abducted last year and January are more than 63” he said.

“Some of these people release, some of them are told to run to Uganda and if they come to their homes they are told they will be hunted,” he added.
