Through his critique, Daniel Akech likened President Salva Kiir Mayardit with a pawn, he further augmented his argument with a number of polished stories claiming to be adducing to the readership the chronological military and political evolution of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Thiong who seemed to have been inspired to write a revelation authored his article in such a way that no sensible readership would make an inference on its motives. Keen readers can easily acknowledge that the article is not a documentation of any history. It is not as well, an analytical piece geared towards development of any new body of knowledge. What can be deduced from the said calumnious piece of writing is that the author was only projecting the President in bad light by bringing his name to engrave disrepute.
First and foremost, President Salva Kiir Mayardit by all measures of leadership is not closer to a pawn. A pawn in the author’s context is any of the eight least valuable pieces of the game of chess, moves only forward and captures only to the side, it can then be promoted to a more powerful piece if it reaches the 8th rank.
Contextually, the author is telling the readership that President Salva Kiir Mayardit is the least valuable South Sudanese to have reached where he is undeservedly. The author has with clarity expressed using derogatory adjectives that President Salva was a man of limited education who lacks charisma, ideological conviction, grand ideas and that cannot be regarded as a realistic politician.
In his convoluted conviction, it is obvious that the author’s argument is based on fallacious reasoning given that his analogy of a pawn is deceitful, inconsiderate and accurately a manifestation of his embryonic sophism.
His insinuation of three strategies namely, (1) hide your strengths, reveal your weaknesses (2) buy loyalty (3) forget your friends but not your enemies as pillars that are keeping President Salva in leadership and as anchors on which his argument are grounded do not reflect any realistic conclusions. This reasoning is a bewilderment emanating from great uncertainty and can be regarded as a derivative of a drained thinking capacity since the author has not made any further evidential and scientific arguments beyond his opinion.
The author is aware of the fact that President Salva Kiir is a noble, honest, trustworthy and patriotic citizen. His patriotism and zeal have been evidently portrayed by his involvement in two different liberation struggles, the Anyanya-1 Movement that fought for 17 years and that was brought to a halt by the 11 year old Addis Ababa Accord of 1972 and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) whose effort led to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that was signed in 2005 bringing the longest war in Africa to a substantial halt while guaranteeing the right for self-determination of Southern Sudan through a referendum.
A pawn cannot participate in two protracted civil wars whose objectives are to liberate the downtrodden people of African origin that for so long were under oppressive Sudanese regimes.
A pawn cannot fight emboldened Arab-Islamic fundamentalists that were using as tools of subjugation, racial and religious-intolerance, repressive laws, social, political and economic disenfranchisement.
While in the two aforesaid liberation struggles, President Salva Kiir was a significant contributor and for the case of SPLM/A, his contribution was unmatched.
While late icon and hero, Dr. John Garang de Mabior was the head (brain), rightly President Salva Kiir Mayardit was the heart. The head (brain) thinks while the heart replenishes it with necessary nutrients and oxygen.
The prerequisite for a head, in this matter a brain to function well, it has to be adequately supplied with well-aerated-blood enriched with all the essential nutrients. From the inception of the SPLM/A, President Salva Kiir was part and parcel and his contributions towards the liberation cause were and are immaculate. He was one of the stainless and rust-free cogs in the Movement’s rolling wheel.
Inspired by the quest to fight for liberty of his people, invigorated by a need to alleviate suffering of the marginalized Sudanese that were unmistakably experiencing excruciating pain of oppression and with open heart and humility, President Salva Kiir joined the SPLM/A as a participant that together with his then present comrades crafted the clear vision and objectives of the Movement and with that in mind, he considered rivalry for the sake of it a worthless tool for derailment.
This author acknowledges that President Salva Kiir was extremely loyalty to the founding Chairman Dr. John Garang de Mabior for terrific reasons. He desired to see the team on course in pursuit of liberation while focus and tranquil. He wanted the Movement to succeed. He knew that success is attained through determination and for that to suffice, all personal interests including extreme cravings for leadership must always be stifled.
Moreover, President Salva was as rightly expressed by Thiong, the fourth powerful cadre of the liberation struggle and was the head of its security sector and thus rendering utmost protection and comfort to the Chairman. Had Kiir been a pawn, his strategic deployments including that of being Deputy Chairman, Chief of General Staff among others wouldn’t have been effected by Dr. John Garang.
His ascension was systematically dignified. He led battles and won on numerous occasions and nobody commanded respect and following beyond President Salva Kiir and the Chairman Dr. John Garang de Mabior during the liberation days and until now.
President Salva embraced Dr. John Garang de Mabior as an ardent leader based on terms of reference laid down for the success of the SPLM/A. He is and was not a coward. Nobody coerced him into subordination. He was characteristically exemplary in all matters including discipline and hard work, thus Mr. Thiong should now extract the meaning of what a disciplined officer is.
Deceptively, Mr. Thiong wants his readers to believe that when President Salva became the First Vice President of the Sudan and President of the Government of Southern Sudan following the death of Dr. John Garang de Mabior who according to Thiong, left behind a largely thuggish and corrupt autocratic system within the SPLM/SPLA, this based on his emphasis was aggravated when President Salva was handed over such a legacy, alleging that Kiir didn’t only maintain such a state of the affairs, he according to Thiong expanded its criminalization to the wider state with use of vast oil revenues to lubricate the wheel of patronage and by concomitant distribution of resources to his allies.
As if such a negative viewpoint wasn’t denigrating to both leaders, Thiong watered it down with acid by claiming that President Salva Kiir did this as a price for achieving independence.
This deceptive narration is merely a mean diatribe. Needless to say, President Salva following his swearing in as the First Vice President of the Sudan in the Government of National Unity and President of the Government of Southern Sudan, like his predecessor was having a huge responsibility on his shoulders.
The new responsibilities includes the cementation of the Unity of the People of Southern Sudan so as to allow them face the challenges, real or perceived that were regarded as latent hurdles to the smooth implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement were all on him.
The unity of people of South Sudan is a constitutional provision as per Chapter 1, article 36 (2b) and therefore, this must be harness by means of attractive policies. President Salva Kiir’s position on this was clear. He needed cohesive South Sudan and to date, he aspires to that. He preferred to ensure that all South Sudanese are participants in all important matters of the nation-building. These together with provisions of other vital agreements outside the CPA were deserving of urgent implementation.
There was a truce called “THE COVENANT OF THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN SUDAN, a product of South-South Dialogue signed on April 21, 2005 in Nairobi-Kenya. This agreement is a supplemental force behind the safeguarding of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. It was a covenant to protect the interest of Southern Sudan. Thus, President Kiir implemented it to ensure that South Sudanese are but only one unshakable united entity.
These ramifications constitute the vital instruments of defending the social, political, military and economic interest of Southern Sudan. President Salva Kiir although described by Mr. Thiong as a man of restricted education is in essence intricate, he foresaw all these and acted swiftly as any shrewd leader would do. He ensured that the CPA implementation to some extent remained uneventful. He therefore deserve being regarded as a master of all issues afflicting Southern Sudan and not a pawn.
When President Salva Kiir opted to bringing all South Sudanese on board, he wasn’t buying any courtesies. He was doing the rightful thing. It goes without saying that he is the symbol of national unity. His agreements with several militias was not to protect himself or South Sudan against any Khartoum’s counterinsurgency, there was an element of national interest deserving of a zealous guarding.
The militias were South Sudanese deserving of home return during peace time. People like Daniel Akech Thiong who migrated to the United States of America during the war of liberation were under provisions of the CPA and other agreements acceptable to return to their motherland. As such, it becomes extremely inconsiderate for Mr. Thiong to blame the President for allowing armed South Sudanese to settle in their own country as they get integrated into various departments of the security sector per the terms of agreements signed with them. If Mr. Thiong was happy to return to South Sudan, why does the fact that President Salva Kiir had prioritized the unity of South Sudanese rile him?
Another erroneous inference is the allegation that President Salva exchanged loyalty of SPLM/A cadres with pleasantries such as vehicles and contracts and that he was never forgetting his enemies citing wild and unfounded stories told in his name. This is never a point of argument because its sensibility is insignificant. South Sudanese are South Sudanese and the country belongs to them. Nobody can be edged out in the name of bribes.
The truth is, the country was unfortunately engulfed by conflict caused by usual champions of the conflicts. Daniel Akech is not too young to recall to mind the mayhems of 1991 including the conspicuous Bor massacre. The same people that ignited conflict in the watch of all including our late leader Dr. John Garang did it again. It is the history that has repeated itself and associating it to Kiir and using it as a cornerstone for calling him a pawn is inept and misplaced. He is a leader that has made other leaders.
Finally, the disdainful overshadowing of President Salva Kiir’s stature with labeling as a ‘pawn’ is but a sophistry deserving of a condemnation. Therefore, Akech Thiong, his masters of succession politics are culpably subjects of denunciation and through this piece, they stand condemned.

And these so-called Dr. John Garang boys were taken over as hostages, blackmails or bargaining cards by *foreign criminals & our so-called allies or uncles here in the IGAD, the African Union (the AU), the devils and evils in the US, the UK, their evil juus (so-called israelis) attack dogs and their gulf Arab states’ terror exporters and financiers, their UN, their creepy NGOs and their secret societies and cabals, the low lives have ‘sold their souls and themselves to’, to crawl their evil selves into our country and over our people. And that was precisely why South Sudan peace negotiation was kept away in *the hotels, brothels and bars of Adis Ababa, all along. then the so-called group of ten or G10 or former detainees were taken to Kenya, so that the Kenyan vermins/parasites/viruses/pests of Mr. Kenyatta, Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka and their criminals in the US, the UK, their evil juus (so-called israelis) attack dogs, their gulf Arab states, their UN and NGOs can go and negotiate their evils arses into our country and over our people. Former Tanzania president, Mr. Jakaya Kikwete (what a damn name) took the so-called G10 or former detainees to Arusha Tanzania, for the reunification the SPLM. Mr. Salva side went to Arusha and agreed, with the SPLM re-unification. But when the so-called G10 or so-called former detainees went back to Nairobi, Kenya. They went and changed their damn minds, and said they were party to what they went agreed to in Arusha, Tanzania——probably they under pressure from their ‘handlers and secret societies’ Cabals’.
Mr. Riek Machar staged a big rally at a five star hotel a’safari Park hotel’ in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2015 and screame, that Mr. Salva Kiir should resign and that South Sudan people, should rise up and remove Mr. Salva from power, since he is a dictator, South Sudan people were even asking themselves then, who did Mr.Riek Machar, his handlers and secret societies or cabals thought they were? Take over power Mr. Salva Kiir to resign, simply just to resign, because ‘Wen/gat/dhok’ Machar/Gat Machar of piece of pieces of shits and his bunch of foreign foreign puppets/stooges, thieves, habitual traitors says so and a good Idea. Good luck to them and their puppets/stooges, thieves and traitors. That is not happen under the sun or even million years here in South Sudan, in our Nilotic plains and valleys, not in slightest. Mr. Lam Akol, was not even implicated in 15/12/2013 foiled coup attempt in Juba, but he was so worked up to get out of Juba. and when he was allowed to go out of Juba, he ran to Kenya, went and formed his yet another ‘policictal Party’ in Nairobi; after his SPLM-DC, he left in Juba a day before and ran to Kenya.
