DELENG – The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have seized 10 aid trucks carrying food supplies for malnourished children and life-saving medications in South Kordofan, according to local sources.
The trucks were intercepted in Al Sunjikaya, a small village in South Kordofan State located roughly 30 kilometers north of Deleng, and 145 kilometers north of the capital Kadugli. It has been under the control of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since late 2023.
Speaking to Sudans Post yesterday, an eyewitness who requested anonymity for security reasons, said this morning that the vehicles were part of a larger convoy of 12 trucks carrying UN aid.
“The trucks were carrying essential supplies, including food and medicine, for people in desperate need,” the eyewitness said. “This is a cruel blow to the humanitarian efforts in the region.”
Deleng area has been under siege by the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) since January. The siege has cut off access to humanitarian aid and led to a severe shortage of food and medicine.
The seized trucks were part of a convoy that had departed from Port Sudan, in Red Sea State, and was headed to Deleng and Kadugli. Two trucks were destined for Al-Dubaybat, an area that lies North of Sunjikaya and is under the control of the RSF.
“The RSF’s actions are a violation of international humanitarian law,” said a member of local resistance committees in Deleng. “We are calling on all parties to the conflict to allow humanitarian access to those in need.”
The RSF controls Al-Dubaybat and the Habela area, while the SPLM-N controls the road between Hajr Al-Jawad and Al-Karakl.
The seizure of the aid trucks is the latest in a series of attacks on humanitarian workers and aid convoys in Sudan. The conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has displaced millions of people and caused a major humanitarian crisis.
