JUBA – South Sudan’s Minister of Defense and Veterans’ Affairs Angelina Jany Teny is in the Egyptian capital Cairo to take part in Egypt’s two-day Egypt Defense Expo 2021, a senior opposition official allied to her told Sudans Post.
“This is to confirm that Honorable Angelina Teny, the minister of defense of the Republic of South Sudan is in the Egyptian capital Cairo and is also leaving tonight for Rwandan capital Kigali,” the official who decided not to be named said.
“She had come here to participate in the 2021 Egyptian Defense Expo and will precede tonight to the capital of Rwanda, Kigali, to participate in a workshop on post-conflict peace-building,” the official said.
When contacted by Sudans Post, the press secretary in the office of the minister Colonel Lam Paul Gabriel who is also the SPLA-IO spokesman, said the defense minister is in the North African County for a defense ministry mission.
“The Minister is in Egypt on official mission of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran’s Affairs,” he told Sudans Post.
Cairo is holding the second edition of its Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2021) from November 29 to December 2, 2021.
The international defence and military industries exhibition, EDEX presents a unique opportunity for exhibitors working in defence and military industries to showcase the latest technology, equipment and systems across land, sea and air.
The only tri-service defence and security exhibition in North Africa is expected to host 400 exhibiting companies from 42 countries at the Egypt International Convention and Exhibition Centre in New Cairo, according to the EDEX official website.
The second edition of the EDEX is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors from the defence industries sector and those interested in the field of armaments and defence industries.
Egyptian Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki has previously said that “Egypt looks forward to receiving the world’s leading defence systems manufacturers.”
