JUBA – South Sudan will inject an unspecified amount of U.S. dollars into the market in the coming days to combat rising inflation, Finance and Planning Minister Eng. Awow Daniel Chuang said on Thursday.

The move aims to stabilize the South Sudanese pound against the dollar and curb price increases, Chuang told reporters in Juba.

“In a few coming days, we will be injecting money and this money will be in the market because you know the market has been thirsty for so long, there has been not enough hard currency in the market,” Awow said.

“That is why you can see that everybody wants hard currency, those who are buying hard currency for their families and those who are going to buy goods, I think there has been a shortage and this shortage now is what we are trying to address directly.”

Chuang acknowledged the shortage of hard currency and said the government is working with the Ministry of Petroleum and National Revenue Authority to secure resources to address the economic crisis.

“We are making sure at least to avail some resources for us to arrest the situation and as we speak today, we just arrived, we were on a trip trying to help the situation by knocking on doors and getting some quick support to the government so that we can able to work,” he said.

The economic situation has been worsened by oil disruptions in Sudan, Chuang added. South Sudan relies heavily on oil exports, which account for more than 90% of its revenue.

This injection of Dollars into market is not a solution in South Sudan, The solution is to Reduce exchange rate of Dollars by decrees of President and Minister of Finance to be reduced up to 5000 SSP, Any one increase it again will be arrested for life imprisonment in South Sudan constitutional law. That’s the Solution but inject Dollars in the market is none. Because they market traders will receive the injection dollars into their shops and wait for another because this foreigner trader people will not like change in South Sudan here they government most know that.

I hope Engineer Chuang You would have make change based on how you addressed economic crisis and the solution that you have put down on your statement . Your working as team work with other ministries I believed that you will be beat a dollars to come down very soon and I know you would not be like former Ministry of Finance and economic Planing. My last suggestion to you as current Ministry of Finance you try to allow all south Sudanese civil servants and all unified forces to recieve theirs Basic salary ot money every at the end of the month because it will help them to manage their situation .thank you for taking the time to read my message.

This is good attempt and I wish it will work if it will be constantly done in every month. But if it will be just once and cut off. then it will not arrest the situation.
so the plan is good but, is it going to be supported as plan by the Minister.
    Thanks

let it not end on paper, action speak louder . people are suffering like there are third country.
the trader should also reduce the price of goods, when following properly the USD in increase ,they continued increase prices and they don’t low down ,as people are following they get abnormal interests in any increase of USD .so government should open eyes properly because they become double deals by get abnormal profit .

Many people create their own statement according to the economic inflation but thanks to the current minister of finance and planning for your first action, by all means try any corner of this economic crisis to back normal, that is your first move by injecting hard currency 💲💲💵 to the market, you implement and follow up
    Thanks
