JUBA – South Sudan’s newly-appointed deputy minister of information, communication technology and postal services Jacob Mayaiju Baba Korok who was appointed last week by President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been sworn into office.

In a statement, the presidency said the swearing in ceremony took place at the presidential palace and was administered by the Supreme Court Justice Ayakder Kom Awan.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Hon Dr Jacob Mayaiju Baba Korok as a Deputy Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services in the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity,” the presidency statement reads in part.

“The swearing-in ceremony was administered in the Office of the President by Justice Ayak-der Kom Awan of Supreme Court,” it added.

The swearing in ceremony was attended by the minister of national security Gen. Obuto Mamur, minister of information Michael Makuei, deputy director in the office of the president, Thiik Salva Kiir Mayardit and other elder of Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

Korok was appointed by President Kiir last week to replace Baba Medan Konyi who was appointed in March 2020 when President Salva Kiir Mayardit reconstituted the transitional government as part of the revitalized peace agreement.
