JUBA, FEBRUARY 9th 2023 (SUDANS POST) – A senior military officer of the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) has been kidnapped by suspected government security operatives in Juba, according to officials with direct knowledge.

Speaking to Sudans Post, a senior SPLA-IO officer who requested not to be named said suspected members of the National Security Service (NSS) came and picked up SPLA-IO Captain Justin Zika at Jebel Yesua in Juba on Wednesday evening.

“They came in their car and they punched him in the neck and then he became unconscious  and then he was picked into the vehicle, it was a pickup vehicle and they took him away and since then, we haven’t heard from him,” the officer said.

When contacted by Sudans Post, another senior opposition official said they have already filed a complaint at the Joint Defense Board (JDB) who will then make search and find out who kidnaped him and why he was kidnapped.

“We have already filed a complaint to the Joint Defense Board and they will work about it in order to seek answers such as who and why he was kidnapped and where he is currently being detained in Juba,” the SPLA-IO official said.
