JUBA – The commissioner of Lakes state’s Cueibet County, Isaiah Akol Mathiang, who was nominated by the main armed opposition group has survived a road ambush, according to the Eye Radio.
Mathiang said the ambush which did not result in any casualty occurred when he was returning back to the county headquarters after a peace mission to Abyei Chok.
“When I was going back to the county headquarters after I met with chiefs in Abyei Chok, criminals appeared in the road, and start shooting at my convoy where they exchange gunfire with my security team. Nobody got hurt and I am ok with all my security team,” Mathiang said.
“The security committee in the county met and now there is a heavy presence of security forces in the area and those criminals are out,” he added.
He further said there is an investigation that is ongoing by the security forces saying one of the assailants has been arrested.
“The investigation by the security committee is on going. One of the criminals have been arrested and is call John Bith,” he said.
