JUBA – The South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) 4th Infantry Division has pledged to ensure a secure and peaceful Christmas celebration for citizens in Unity State, well ahead of the scheduled festivities on December 24, 2023.

Speaking to Sudans Post on Friday, SSPDF’s 4th Infantry Division Commander Major General William Manyang Mayak expressed the division’s readiness and commitment to enhancing security measures to safeguard the Christmas celebrations.

“As a security body, we are intensifying security efforts to enable citizens to enjoy a Christmas celebration without any security constraints,” mentioned Major General Mayak during an interview at his office in Baar, Rubkona.

He emphasized that both the SSPDF and the joint police forces have undergone comprehensive preparations and have been directed to ensure the protection of civilians from potential criminal activities during the Christmas period.

“Christmas often becomes an opportunity for criminal elements to plan and execute nefarious deeds, causing chaos. However, this time, there will be no room for criminals. We are striving for the first-ever safe and tranquil Christmas celebration in Unity State,” General Mayak affirmed.

Furthermore, General Mayak highlighted ongoing efforts to resolve conflicts and diminish tensions, aiming to put an end to unnecessary hostilities and defections as rival forces remain poised for a potential second phase.

The SSPDF’s proactive measures and heightened security readiness signal a concerted effort to create a secure environment for the community to revel in the joyous occasion of Christmas, free from disturbances or threats.
