AWEIL – Local authorities of Aweil North County in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State have detained a Sudanese national accused of selling a pistol to a local resident.

The man, whose name is withheld for privacy reasons, was arrested on Monday after his client accidentally shot himself.

Speaking to Sudans Post yesterday, Secretary-General of the Joint Border Committee Majok Deng Akuacdit identified the local, who wounded himself while attempting to test the pistol, as Bol Malueth.

Akuacdit said Bol was unaware the pistol was loaded.

“What occurred on Sunday at Kiir-kang-bek was that the man called Bol Malueth hurt himself with a pistol as he attempted to test the pistol,” Majok said.

“He was immediately rushed to Gok-machar where he is nursing a wound, and the suspect is now being held in police custody and will be arraigned in court and charged with illegally selling the weapon,” he added.

Majok warned the public to refrain from illegal gun dealings with foreigners.
