JUBA – The commissioner of Fangak County has alleged that plans to attack his county alongside Pigi in Jonglei state are being sponsored by politicians he didn’t name from South Sudan’s capital Juba, warning that such moves could derail the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

In a statement extended to Sudans Post, Boutros Biel said forces belonging to General Johnson Olony Thabo have left their bases in western parts of the Nile and have passed through Malakal without any attempt to stop them by the government there.

“I want to inform the general public that Agwelek forces in their badges are on their way from Kodok heading to Pigi and Fangak Counties through Malakal town,” he said.

Th senior government official further said that the attack is being sponsored from the capital Juba and warned that such moves could derail the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement at a greater risk.

“They are being sponsored and allowed free access or passage by the government in Malakal and sponsored from Juba,” he said.

“Kitgwang forces in Tonja are being sponsored also from Juba to cause violence in Fangak County. Such sponsored violence is not acceptable s it is against the peace agreement,” he added.

He further said that “The people of Fangak and Pigi shall defend themselves from such organized violence from now onward.”
