Wildlife officer killed in Aweil forest

The director of the wildlife department, John Reuben said 1st Lt. Garang Garang Ruay’s body was found in a forest adjacent to the road towards Wau on Tuesday.

AWEIL – A wildlife officer in Northern Bahr El Gazal State has been killed.

The director of the wildlife department, John Reuben said 1stLt. Garang Garang Ruay’s body was found in a forest adjacent to the road towards Wau on Tuesday.

It is believed Garang was kidnapped by unknown people following a disagreement.

“The wife of Mr. Garang Ruay Ruay came to us on January 25 and reported that men in uniform came to the house and summoned Garang. When he went to them, he was whisked away by motorcycle,” said Reuben.

“The footprints or marks of the motorcycle have been found at the scene where Garang was found hanging on the trunk of the tree,” he added.

Reuben said a murder case was opened and the search for suspects underway.
