KWAJOK – A 43-year-old man is nursing injuries after he was burnt with hot soup.
The incident occurred in Twic payam of South Sudan’s Warrap State last week.
It all started when Ayii Deng Ayii reportedly tried to correct one of his daughters who declined to wash utensils prompting their mother to retaliate in her defense.
“I started to discipline my daughter and when the mother came back and found her daughter crying, she put on fire the cooking pot in disguise as if cooking. As I attempted to go to the bathroom, she came with hot soup and poured it on me while I was naked. My back and head are now severely injured,” explained Ayii.
Ayii is currently admitted at Aweng Primary Healthcare center with severe injuries.
The suspect is now being detained as investigations into the matter continue.
Inequalities between men and women in South Sudan are an undeniable reality. Patriarchal culture and the cultural legacy of traditionally sexist norms create a society where the experience of being a woman is still perceived negatively.
