The comes after the deputy governor and his SPLM party announced last week that they were suspending participation in the state transitional government under Governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba who they accused of being incompetent.
Yesterday, Governor Futuyo issued a gubernatorial order asking politicians and all civil servants to return to their work, saying government employees including senior government officials such as ministers and heads of independent commissions are not allowed to stay away from their duty stations with unexplained reasons.
In a statement this morning, Yakani who is the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) called on the parties to the government to respect the implementation process of the revitalized peace agreement and that politicians should control personal political grievances that do not serve the public interest.
“CEPO calls for the respect of the spirit for the implementation of the R-ARCSS at the state government. The recent political development in western Equatoria state is a wrong trend that it should be stop immediately without any delay,” Yakani said.
“The political leaders of Western Equatoria state should sincerely control their personal political grievances in a manner that does not result in the creation of state political instability. Embracing the spirit of consultations and reaching decisions by consensus is key for ensuring state political stability,” he added.
The prominent activist further “The council of states should take serious stock on ensuring that top states political leadership adhere to the spirit of the R-ARCSS implementation including commitment to practice of democratic governance.”
“CEPO urge the political leaders of Western Equatoria State to pick dialogue as an approach of sorting out political differences among them,” he added.
