South Sudan parties to sign final agreement on states gov’t positions on Monday – Makuei

JUBA – South Sudan parties to the revitalized peace agreement are expected to sign the final agreement on the allocation of the state governments’ positions on Monday, according to information minister Michael Makuei Lueth.

According to Makuei, the parties have agreed on the states executive position and negotiations would in the next few days shift to local government positions.

“This is to confirm that the parties have reached an agreement on the state government positions. We would have signed the final agreement on this but because tomorrow is Saturday which is a weekend, we will do the signing on Monday,” Makuei said.

For his part, senior opposition official Dut Majokdit confirmed the development and said the parties will sign the agreement documents on Monday.

“The Parties have reached the decision over the Allocation of the States Governments Positions. local government to be the next step. We expect the parties to sign the agreed documents on Monday,” Majokdit said from Juba.
