JUBA – An attack by unidentified gunmen on an opposition cantonment site in Mvolo County of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state on Wednesday has left at least two SPLA-IO soldiers injured, a base commander for the main armed opposition group said.
Brigadier General Abraham Mojur Mapir the SPLA-IO commander Dogborogboro cantonment in Mvolo County said assailants have remained at large saying two of their soldiers have been injured and were rushed to a local health centre there.
“This attack happened at 3 am and two soldiers of IO got injured. I have them now with me in my health care center, but here is a PHCU and the treatment is not whole. We are waiting for the ambulance to take them to the hospital. One of them is in critical condition,” the senior opposition commander said, according to Radio Tamazuj.
Separately, Stephen Yusif, a community worker at Lessi Primary Health Care Unit (PHCU) confirmed the presence of two SPLA-IO soldiers with injuries, saying the two soldiers would be transferred to another hospital as the small community health center has limited health capabilities.
